7 brands killing it with IGTV content
IGTV IS INSTAGRAM’S ANSWER TO YOUTUBE. ITS AIM IS TO BECOME A MORE COMPETITIVE VIDEO PLATFORM, MAYBE EVEN THE #1 MOBILE VIDEO PLATFORM.
Instagram has an advantage. We’re on there already, following family and friends, being inspired by creators we love or scrolling through our favorite meme accounts, we might as well watch the Stranger Things cast crash a sightseeing bus on Netflix’s IGTV channel while we’re at it.
Let’s not be glued to our phones though, k? Let’s put them down more, enjoy the beauty of the real world, enjoy the beauty of us. And when we do want to connect with people digitally, waste a little time, or both, then IGTV is a great place for us to do that.
Here are 7 brands we can waste our time with right now. We might even learn something, too.
…has long been a trustworthy brand. It dates all the way back to 1888, the same year that the first issue hit the shelves (or wherever they put magazines back then).
The content they put out now on their IGTV channel is no different than the content they put out way back when. Their content sheds light on our natural world, on our cultures, on stories related to scientific progress. Want to watch something interesting but not for the faint of heart? See their groundbreaking story on a successful face transplant.
…has created some incredible original streaming content over the years. They know they have a lot of good stuff floating around in the digital ether ready for us to binge stream until our eyes bleed. What they’re doing with their IGTV channel is showing us a bit behind the scenes. Actors from our favorite series taking on fun challenges, going on road trips together and crashing viewing parties. Give our eyes a break, Netflix.
…cares about Earth. In fact, their Instagram bio reads, “We’re in business to save our home planet.” So you can bet their IGTV video content revolves around that central mission. Mini-documentaries sharing stories about good humans doing their part for their home, their community, their planet.

…is probably one of the most active broadcast media outlets on IGTV right now. They provide us with a wide range of news stories all presented in digestible, engaging and informative videos, everything from a donkey singing for her food to Chernobyl’s forgotten dogs. Yes, there are more informative videos than that, too.
…has managed to remain relevant with millennials over the years, and even expand their reach into new audiences.
It’s not all clickbait, either.
Back in 2011 they made a push to innovate by dipping into more serious journalism. We still see quizzes, lists and memes but Buzzfeed now houses news content with more substance.
Don’t get us wrong though they’re still eccentric as hell and focused on going viral in their content. We see that present in their IGTV channel. And that’s what we love about it. It’s nice to escape the real world with Black Grandmas Try other Black Grandmas’ Sweet Potato Pies.
…is a digital video channel that was launched back in 2010. They focus on global arts and culture, premiering three films per week surrounding design, fashion, beauty, music, food and travel.
Nowness supports both well-known and up-and-coming filmmakers by providing them with a platform to showcase their work. They now share these very same films right on their IGTV channel. It’s really great video content. Lucky us!
…is full of hacks on their IGTV channel. Camping hacks. Beach day hacks. Life hacks. They also have great original video content like mini-documentaries about the journey of Colombian coffee. Since we like solid travel advice, beautiful destinations and exploring the world of food we definitely like Tastemade Travel’s IGTV channel.
